Vinyl Siding Designs and Colors

Posted by - May 21, 2011 - Siding

Vinyl siding may be made from PVC, but it can look as good as any siding out there, including real wood. There are many colors and designs available to those buying new vinyl siding, and even options as to the direction and shape of the panels themselves.

In addition to the traditional horizontal pvc panels, it is possible to purchase vertical panels. These are easier to clean and can provide a unique modern look. If you would prefer to have a completely smooth exterior, then there are some companies that make panels which fit seamlessly together. For an old fashioned look, buy vinyl siding panels made in a shingle pattern.

Most panels come with a wood grain pattern on them, and some are made to look like real wood. Choose between cedar, redwood or pine, and enjoy the beauty of wood without the maintenance and cost of it. As for the colors themselves, there is something for every taste. Shades of green, brown, blue, red, yellow and white are available. Nor do you have to have the entire house the same color. Add accents not only in the trim but also by making smaller portions contrasting colors to the main. But you should remember that whatever choice you make you will have to live with for many years to come.

The bolder the color you pick, the more it is likely to fade through the years. If you come to sell your house, you may also find that more neutral shades are more acceptable to your buyers. However, ultimately the most important thing is to pick out a design and color that you will really love to come home to every day. Do not forget that your siding color should match with the color of your front and back porch, your garage door, and any other buildings or attachments you have. If you have a house that dates from a particular time period in its style you may want to look at pictures of the houses from that time, and pick colors that will be authentic. That way your vinyl siding will match both you and your house.
